1. Classic Jawa, Jawa 42 and Jawa Perak motorcycles launched in India
On 15-12-2018 three maverick people Mr Anupam Thareja, Boman R Irani and Mr Anand Mahindra launched the much awaited legend called Czech brand Jawa in the iconic Mehboob Studio in Mumbai.
This motorbike launch created a buzz which was not seen in a long time, the fact it was sort of the relaunch of the bike I the Indian market, once an iconic prince in the Indian Motorbike scene lost its way in the 80’s, vanished from the Motorbiking scene, to return later in Modern Classic Avatar.
The Motorbikes received an overwhelming response, the event was an overwhelming success, getting booked till September 2019, this has proved to be a fantastic response generated without any (Tv and Radio ) advertisement or Celebrity endorsement. The prices of the 3 models were a pleasant surprise, with Jawa Forty-Two priced at Rs. 1.55 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi), classic Jawa priced at Rs. 1.64 Lakhs , Jawa Perak which will be launched later, priced at Rs. 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
With the hype and response Jawa has managed to generate, it seems like the Jawa Stable is all geared to shake up the competition & become a fierce rival to its contemporaries especially Royal Enfield.
2. KTM Duke 125 launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 1.18 Lakhs
KTM finally launched its much anticipated Duke 125, in India, since the launch the Duke has been a fantastic seller for the KTM brand in India, with cutting edge tech paired with amazing looks, motorcycle enthusiast have taken a liking to it.
KTM 125 which is the cheapest Motorbike from KTM stable, is one of the most sought after motorbike in the international market. It is dubbed as one the best entry segment Motorbikes in the market. Lot of people were anticipating the younger sibling launch in the Indian Market.
After a long wait, KTM finally decided to launch the Motorbike in Indian Market, leaving the enthusiast frenzy. Before the launch, one issue that came up was the price, everyone is of opinion, for a small 125 cc single cylinder motorcycle, the price of the motorbike is on the higher side. Once it was launched, the price has not deterred the consumers from booking the motorbike, the spec sheet says it all.
The KTM Duke 125 has a design similar to the larger Duke 200. It houses a 124.7 cc liquid cooled engine in a trellis frame, generates 14.5 PS at 9,250 rpm of power, a peak torque of 12 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The fuel tank capacity is 10.2 litres, weighs around 148 kgs, feels a bit on the heavier side among the 125 cc models.
A USD fork in the front & a monoshock unit in the rear handles the suspension while 17-inch wheels are shod with a 110/70 radial in front & 150/60 radial in the rear. The braking system is taken care by 300mm disc upfront and 230 mm disc at the rear, both supplemented with ABS.
The Duke 125 is priced at Rs. 1.18 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).
3. Royal Enfield Launch Interceptor 650 & Continental GT650
After a bit of a delay, Royal Enfield finally unveiled two of its most eagerly awaited motorcycles, the twins as we say, interceptor 650 & Continental GT650, with launch of these motorbikes, Royal Enfield forays into the twin cylinder world with terrific panache. With specs such as, a 650 cc engine, generating 47 bhp of power @7250 rpm, fuel injection, electric start, 6 speed transmission combined with good looks, terrific styling, the twins are ready to challenge the competition in the market.
With the Interceptor winning the IMOTY Bike of the Year 2019 award, it looks like there no stopping the Twins in 2019.
